CARING FOR LAWN AND LANDSCAPING AFTER INSTALLATION:
Trees:
• Set the hose against the base of the tree. Then set the water pressure to a slow trickle and let it saturate the ground for 5 minutes.
• Do this 2 times a week for 5 minutes.
Row of Trees:
• To water you can use a soaker hose against the base of the tree for 1 hour.
• Do this 1 or 2 times a week.
*Please note: Over watering is worse than under watering.
Shrubs and Perennials:
• Using a hose with increased pressure, water each plant for 30 seconds.
• Do this 2 times a week.
*If it is very hot, over 85 degrees, water every other day.
If you would like to use a sprinkler, use one recommended for small plants, misting the plants for 20 to 25 minutes. Do this twice a week as well.
Annual Flowers:
• Water daily for the first month. Once they are mature you can water a few times a week as needed.
CARING FOR YOUR NEW LAWN AFTER INSTALLATION:
Watering for Seed Installation:
• The lawn will need watering 2 times a day for 20 to 25 minutes.
• Water early in the morning and later in the evening.
DO NOT water in the heat of the day.
• Once the seed is in contact with water you must water it every day for 1 month.
• Minimum watering is once a day.
• If using a sprinkler, use a rotary sprinkler with a round base.
If it has rained a substantial amount, substantial meaning 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain, you do not need to water that day.
• We will come back to do one over-seeding. If we plant in the spring, we will return in the fall to complete over-seeding if needed. If we plant in the fall, we will be back in the spring to complete the over-seeding if needed.
• When we come back to over-seed, you will need to water the lawn again once a day for a month.
LAWNS INSTALLED FROM SPRING TO THE MIDDLE OF MAY:
• From April to mid-June, you will get weeds. No soil is sterilized; weeds will germinate during this time period and will grown along with your new grass.
Here are some tips
1. Give your grass 1 month to grow.
2. After you have cut the grass, you can then fertilize it.
3. We recommend a starter fertilizer.
4. Weed control cannot be applied until the lawn has been cut 3 or 4 times.
5. Once weed control is applied, it should clean out any weeds that grew during germination season.
SOD INSTALLATION:
• Sod installed requires water twice a day for 20 to 25 minutes.
• After 10 to 14 days, sod should root where you are not able to pull it up.
First time cutting
o Stop watering for a few days and make sure it is firm enough to walk on it.
o Cut the lawn with a small push mower for the first few weeks.
o After the grass is established, you can then use a larger mower for cutting.
